OVERLAND, Mo. - With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, nearly 1,000 families in the St. Louis metro were gifted a complete holiday meal, thanks to Schnucks and Operation Food Search. Families lined their cars up along the Schnucks parking lot Friday for carefully-assembled bags containing items to help feed families this Thanksgiving. MADISON COUNTY, Ill. - A St. Louis man faces felony charges in connection with a DUI crash that killed an Illinois teenager last summer. Prosecutors have charged Dustin Gilliland, 44, with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI in connection with the crash, which claimed the life of Gregory Kuehnel Jr., 18, of Jerseyville. Man killed in south St. Louis County road-rage shooting Charges allege that Gilliland was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Illinois Routes 3 and 143. A massive Pacific storm system currently churching off the coast of Alaska is poised to bring measurable rain to Southern California next week and snow to the mountains.Forecasters with the National Weather Service say the storm will spin slowly toward the California coast over the next several days. Through this weekend and early next week, skies will be mostly clear and temperatures, mild, but “things will change very drastically and quickly,” says KTLA weather anchor Kaj Goldberg.Meteorologists say a large Pacific storm system will bring measurable rain to Southern California next week. The Long Beach Health Department has confirmed its first human case of mosquito-borne St. Louis Encephalitis since 1984, city officials announced on Thursday.The person who was infected was hospitalized but is currently recovering at home, officials said, and no other cases have been identified. "We are working diligently with healthcare providers to educate the community to prevent more cases of SLEV,” Mayor Rex Richardson said in a statement. “Mosquito control is a shared responsibility and residents must take an active role in reducing the threat of mosquito-borne illnesses in their neighborhoods.” Second-ever case of local dengue virus reported in Southern California SLEV is a disease caused by St. Louis Encephalitis and can spread to people if infected culex mosquitoes bite them. One Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Accident near McHard RoadFORT BEND COUNTY, TX (November 10, 2023) – A solo-car accident claimed one life Wednesday morning along the Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road. The incident unfolded at approximately 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of McHard Road and FM 2234 on October 25th.According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office (FBCSO), reports came in regarding a single-vehicle collision.
