DETROIT (AP) — Michelin is recalling more than 542,000 light truck tires in the U.S. because they don’t have enough traction to work in all snowy conditions. The recall covers certain Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric tires that Michelin says don’t meet U.S. safety standards. The tire maker says in documents posted Thursday by safety regulators that tires without sufficient traction can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the tires at no cost to owners. Owners will get interim notification letters starting June 12. They’ll get another letter once the replacements are available. The company says initial tire testing was done with the wrong tire pressure. Later tests by Michelin discovered the problem.Michelin says the tires are marked with the Alpine symbol with three mountain peaks showing they work well in snow, but are not classified as snow tires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted a document with the tire sizes on its website....Toronto’s iconic Lakeview Diner reopens — with steak and seafood on the menu

Few symbols have come to represent Toronto’s beloved Lakeview Restaurant as much as its signature “Always Open” neon sign out front. Though it wasn’t glowing on the day CityNews visited the recently reopened restaurant, inside there’s been quite the glow-up.“Opened 24 hours a day for 15 years straight, this place has gone to war many times,” co-owner Fadi Hakim said. The iconic west end diner’s black and white hexagon tiled flooring (which is not the original from 1932) and wood-panelled decor remain the same. But the wallpaper has been replaced with mirrors, and the entryway bar is now framed by mint green ice cream machines.“When you walk in, you see the ice cream, it hits you back to the old milkshakes and the old times at the Lakeview,” said head chef Adam Zimmerman.Eventually the joint will be retrofitted with a takeout window for ice cream and those famous milkshakes, which, yes, are coming back.Smoked Salmon, Scallion Cream Cheese, Tomato, Capers & Pickled Shal...Activist investor puts more pressure on Parkland Fuel; will oppose incumbent board

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican-led House passed a bill Thursday that would bar federally supported schools and colleges from allowing transgender athletes whose biological sex assigned at birth was male to compete on girls or women's sports teams. The legislation approved by a 219-203 vote is unlikely to advance further because the Democratic-led Senate will not support it and the White House said President Joe Biden would veto it. Supporters said the legislation, which would put violators at risk of losing taxpayer dollars, is necessary to ensure competitive fairness. They framed the vote as supporting female athletes disadvantaged by having to compete against those whose gender identify does not match their sex assigned at birth. Opponents criticized the bill as ostracizing an already vulnerable group for political gain. The House action comes as at least 20 other states have imposed similar limits on trans athletes at the K-12 or collegiate level. The bill would amend landmark ci...Chicago launches youth summer jobs, activities program
