A car veered off the 15 Freeway early Thursday morning, crashed through a chain-link fence and plowed into the garage of a Temecula home with eight people inside, causing a massive explosion. Siblings Gaby Rivera and Angel Vega were just two of the people inside at 2:45 a.m. when the car came crashing down causing fire to race through the residence. “All of a sudden, I hear screeching and that had somewhat woken me up,” Angel told KTLA’s Rick Chambers. “Then the next you thing know, a loud crash and bang.” He said the car hit the gas line and the fuse box. Within a matter of seconds, they started seeing the flames. “It was scary. I’m trying to run my grandma out and the flames are right next to us,” Angel explained. “It was definitely very traumatic.” A home in Temecula burned to ashes after a car on the 15 Freeway veered off the roadway and into the residence on Oct. 12, 2023. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Nic Hague and Nicolas Roy scored in the final 2 minutes of the second period and the Vegas Golden Knights spoiled San Jose’s season opener by beating the Sharks 4-1 on Thursday night. The teams were locked in a tight game before Vegas broke it open with the goals from Hague and Roy 53 seconds apart.Michael Amadio also scored and Brayden Pachal added his first career goal to help the defending champions win their second straight to open the season. “Tonight I thought it was our guys that we don’t typically rely on that did a lot,” coach Bruce Cassidy said. “That shows you’re a good team when you don’t need your top guys to have their ‘A’ games all the time. Tonight I thought some of them were fine, but not dominant like they can be and have been. … It’s not the usual suspects and you need that if you’re going to be a good team.”Logan Thompson made 22 saves in his first regular-season game since being sidelined by a lower-body injury last March.“I’m ...PGA Tour Shriners Children’s Open Scores

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin arrived Friday in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv to meet with senior government leaders and see firsthand some of the U.S. weapons and security assistance that Washington rapidly delivered to Israel in the first week of its war with the militant Hamas group.Austin is the second high-level U.S. official to visit Israel in two days. His quick trip from Brussels, where he was attending a NATO defense ministers meeting, comes a day after Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in the region on Thursday. Blinken is continuing the frantic Mideast diplomacy, seeking to avert an expanded regional conflict.Austin is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, and the Israeli War Cabinet. His arrival comes as Israel’s military directed hundreds of thousands of residents in Gaza City to evacuate “for their own safety and protection,” ahead of a feared Israeli ground offensive. JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s military told some 1 million Palestinians living in Gaza on Friday to evacuate the north, according to the United Nations, an unprecedented order for almost half the population of the sealed-off territory ahead of an expected ground invasion against the ruling Hamas militant group. The U.N. warned that so many people fleeing en masse would be calamitous, and Hamas, which staged a shocking and brutal attack on Israel this week, dismissed it as a ploy and called on people to stay in their homes, adding to widespread panic. The evacuation order, which includes Gaza City, home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, sparked confusion among civilians and aid workers already running from Israeli airstrikes and contending with a total siege and a territory-wide power blackout.“Forget about food, forget about electricity, forget about fuel. The only concern now is just if you’ll make it, if you’re going to live,” said Nebal Farsakh, a spokeswoman for the Palestinia...Latest news
