Severe storms hit the Denver area

DENVER (KDVR) -- The National Weather Service issued a severe storm threat for Denver and surrounding areas including parts of the Front Range. "A few severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening, with large hail and wind gusts up to 70 mph. Some storms could also produce localized heavy rain, with a threat of flash flooding in the foothills portion of recent burn areas," an NWS Boulder tweet said. The Pinpoint Weather team said if clouds break in the afternoon and temperatures rise, there are good chances for thunderstorms. The NWS said those storms will move east across the foothills and the Interstate 25 corridor including Denver through 2 p.m. Around 4 p.m., a flash flood warning was issued for Boulder and Weld counties, including Firestone, Longmont and Erie. DENVER (KDVR) — Denver's weather will turn stormy Thursday evening with scattered storms bringing heavy rain to parts of eastern Colorado. Storms could cause minor flooding in flood-prone areas due to their high rainfall rate and slow-moving nature. Weather tonight: Showers and storms Storms will develop Thursday afternoon and slowly push east across the Front Range and plains. The biggest threat with these storms will be the heavy rainfall.Minor flooding is possible due to the soil still being wet from last week's storms. Some roads will develop standing water in areas that get hit. DENVER (KDVR) -- One person was shot in Green Valley Ranch on Thursday afternoon. The suspected shooter then barricaded for hours inside a home.The standoff was still ongoing around 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the Denver Police Department. NEAR BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — Authorities have taken a man into custody following a wild chain of events involving a stolen Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck and a cross-county police pursuit on the Florida Turnpike that came to an end near Boynton Beach. Police arrested a man after he confronted officers who used pepper spray during a fight that broke out near Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale.Police body camera video captured the tense moments after officers responded to the scene of the off-campus altercation along the 2500 block of Northwest 11th Street, Wednesday afternoon.Daniella Wilson, the girlfriend of the man who was arrested, spoke with 7News on Thursday about the takedown.“We heard a commotion, we came outside,” she said.It began with dozens of people on the street near the campus.Wilson said she came out to make sure her nephew wasn’t involved.“For him not to be a part of the altercation. A South Florida woman found herself headed for trouble after renting a car. Her search for answers hit a dead end, until she reached out to 7News for help.
