Welcome to the Hotline’s inaugural Pac-12 athletic department power ratings, in which we assess performance in football and men’s and women’s basketball in 2022-23 against each school’s operating expenses.In other words: Wins per dollars spent.Which departments did the most with what they have?I’m sure everyone will agree completely with the order below.*** Notes on the following:— Because the three sports don’t carry the same impact across the athletic department and university, we weighted success in the following manner: football, then men’s basketball, then women’s basketball.— Final expenses for the current fiscal year aren’t available, so we have used the FY2022 operating budgets as the basis for judgment. Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale sent alarming messages to a former middle-school basketball teammate shortly before Monday’s deadly massacre, the ex-classmate said.Hale wrote she planned to commit suicide and that she’d likely be covered on the news in a series of direct messages to Averianna Patton over Instagram at 9:57 a.m. Monday, Patton told the Nashville news station WTVF.“One day this will make more sense,” Hale wrote, according to the messages published by the TV outlet. “I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. (KRON) -- Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies used spike strips in the apprehension of a group of alleged catalytic converter thieves on Tuesday. The deputies responded to a catalytic converter theft in Cupertino early Tuesday morning, the SCC Sheriff's office said in a social media post. It was then that deputies deployed the spike strips -- tire deflation device -- and the vehicle was disabled on Interstate 280.Four suspects fled the vehicle on foot but were later apprehended by deputies, police said. MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) — Five St. Louis-area police officers were injured early Wednesday when they were struck by an SUV driven by a suspected drunk driver.Three of the officers were in serious condition and two suffered moderate injuries, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. A 2-year-old girl in the Jeep Cherokee that struck the officers suffered minor injuries.The accident happened at 1:42 a.m. on Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The officers are part of a regional task force that focuses on auto thefts and other crimes.The officers had chased a suspected car thief who crashed and were handling that wreckage when they were hit.
