MN Senate joins House in passing free school meals for all MN students

All Minnesota students will be eligible for free school meals, no matter their family income, under a bill that has passed both chambers of the Minnesota Legislature.The Senate on Tuesday approved the DFL-led legislation, which will cost the state roughly $200 million a year. House lawmakers approved similar language last month and will have to agree to the Senate’s version before sending it along to Gov. Tim Walz, who supports the effort.Sen. Heather Gustafson, DFL-Vadnais Heights, said the bill will ensure children from low-income families can eat at school, even if their parents don’t complete forms showing they’re eligible. Fort Ann leads outages in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Washington County's had a busy Tuesday. Winter weather expected to accumulate between 8 and 16 inches in different parts of the rural county have been accompanied by strong winds and plenty of downed tree limbs. In a midday update, the county said its snow emergency would stay in effect until 8 a.m. Wednesday morning - and anyone traveling should expect a slow trip in the meantime. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Legislature is considering extending the hours of operation for wine and liquor stores during the holiday season in Albany County. Surrounding counties allow wine and liquor stores to be open from 8 a.m. to midnight. According to legislation introduced on March 13, Albany County is requesting that wine and liquor stores are open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting November 15 to January 7 each year. Majority Leader Dennis Feeney, sponsor of the legislation comments, “This proposal will benefit both the public and local businesses, as it allows for businesses to stay open additional hours during one of their busiest seasons." The legislature will discuss this request further in the Law Committee scheduled March 29.

It alleges that the company didn't disclose the risks that future interest rate increases would have on its business. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A man appeared in St. Louis County Circuit Court Tuesday morning and admitted to a double murder involving his father and fiancée. Jerry Cannon, 40, and Iesha Emery, 33, were found shot to death inside Cannon's home in the 1100 block of Oran Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors.
