Carroll took to the seas in Hull to honor the memory of a local veteran.“Because of your hard work and dedication today, Emily certainly shines on,” said Meaghan Carroll Rateau, Emily’s sister. The boat was built by students at Hull High School while partnering with the Hull Life Saving Museum. FOXBORO — Patriots defensive end Keion White delivered in his NFL preseason debut Thursday night. When asked after the 2023 NFL Draft what White would bring to the Patriots as a second-round pick, one source told the Herald, “pain.” The rookie was inflicting plenty of it on Texans offensive players Thursday night with a QB hit, three tackles and a pseudo-forced fumble. White wasn’t credited with forcing a fumble, but he did prevent running back Dare Ogunbowale from recovering a muffed pitch midway through the second quarter by spearing the Texans ball carrier. He also drilled Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud in the ribs on his first-quarter QB hit.Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | How Patriots rookies Keion White, Malik Cunningham starred in the preseason opener and 39 more film takeaways New England Patriots | Demario Douglas nearly joined notable list of Patriots in preseason debut New England Patriots | Photo ga...The death toll rises to 80 in Maui wildfires as survivors begin returning to communities in ruins

LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Survivors witnessed a surreal landscape of flattened homes, blackened hulks of burned-out cars and ashy lots where buildings once stood as they took stock of their shattered lives in the aftermath of a fast-paced wildfire on the Hawaii island of Maui that authorities say killed at least 80 people.Anthony Garcia assessed the devastation as he stood under Lahaina’s iconic banyan tree, now charred, and swept twisted branches into neat piles next to another heap filled with dead animals: cats, roosters and other birds killed by the smoke and flames. Somehow it made sense in a world turned upside-down.“If I don’t do something, I’ll go nuts,” said Garcia, who lost everything he owned. “I’m losing my faith in God.”Garcia and other residents were faced with catastrophic destruction resulting from the wildfires that tore through parts of Maui this week and were still not fully contained Friday night.Maui County raised the number of confirmed deaths to 80 in a 9 p.m. st...King of Jordan approves a bill to criminalize online speech.
