AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Waterloo Greenway's annual "Rainbow on the Creek" will be held Saturday, with several offerings available to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride. Pride Month 2023: Ways to celebrate in Central Texas The full lineup of events runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with doors at 5, at Moody Amphitheater and Waterloo Park. The fest will be hosted by Aira Juliet and will feature several performers and artists in Austin's LGBTQ+ community. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The first performance of the 2023 Alive at Five concert series has been moved to their rain site. The show will now take place under the 787 bridge, by the Corning Preserve boat launch at 1 Quay Street in Albany. The 'Emo Pride Night' show, featuring Hawthorne Heights with special guest Bad Luck, will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. The location change was made due to potential inclement weather, though due to the ongoing air quality conditions, Albany Events is offering masks on site to attendees. The performance, like all of the shows in the series, is free and open to the public. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - One Illinois bill awaiting the governor's review would restrict the use of the state’s license plate readers in cases involving abortion care seekers. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and other Illinois state representatives spoke briefly about the bill Thursday in Chicago, though some aspects of how this practice might be enforced remain to be determined. House Bill 3326, sponsored by Giannoulias, would reportedly prevent law enforcement from other states from being able to access license plate reader data in Illinois with the intent of tracking or penalizing people seeking or assisting others with abortion care. ST. LOUIS - The Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force completed its largest rescue operation of 2023 on Thursday, extricating dozens of Yorkies and other small dog breeds from a hoarder in Franklin County.According to a task force spokesperson, the home was in structural decay, and the floors were covered in large amounts of animal waste, posing a risk to the people and animals living there.The owner of the dogs agreed to surrender the animals to the Animal Cruelty Task Force onsite. The 60 dogs will be brought to the Humane Society of Missouri’s St. Louis headquarters for emergency veterinary triage and treatment.Rescuers said the dogs are frightened, filthy, and many show signs of being infested with parasites. A San Fernando Police Department officer has been charged with stealing money from a man during an arrest last June, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.Jeffrey King, 37, was charged with one count each of second-degree robbery and extortion, as well as one misdemeanor count of petty theft.The charges stem from a June 21, 2022 incident in which King responded to a call of a possible domestic violence incident at a San Fernando home.The suspect was arrested and booked into jail. When he was released two days later, he reported that he was missing money he had had in his pocket during the arrest, officials said.“The defendant allegedly took cell phones and cash from his pockets while he was restrained but only handed over the phones later to a supervisor. The cash was never booked into evidence or returned to the suspect,” the D.A.’s Office detailed in a news release.Officials did not say how much was allegedly stolen. Construction has finally begun on an empty dirt lot that sat dormant for more than a year in Downtown Disney as theme park officials aim to complete construction in the outdoor shopping area by late 2024.The now-active construction site was once home to the former AMC theater building that was in the shopping district until 2022. The theatre closed in 2018 to make way for a 700-room luxury Disney hotel project that was ultimately canceled, the Orange County Register reported.
