(BCN) -- The Oakland Fire Department said it is investigating a fire that occurred in the city's Rancho San Antonio neighborhood Monday night.The blaze struck a three-unit apartment building in the 1500 block of International Boulevard, according to firefighters.The fire was put under control at approximately 10:22 p.m., crews said. An adjacent structure had minor damage, the fire department said. NEW YORK (AP) — With the robust gains of 2023 in the rear view mirror, Wall Street was poised to open with losses on the first trading day of 2024. Futures for the S&P 500 lost 0.8% before the bell Tuesday, while futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 0.6%.Investors and economists will get a trove of employment data this week, with the government reporting on November job openings Wednesday, weekly jobless claims Thursday and the closely-watched December jobs report on Friday.Stocks fell Friday on Wall Street from their near all-time highs amid easing inflation, a resilient economy and the prospect of lower interest rates which buoyed investors. When they reconvene this month, Virginia lawmakers will consider a proposal to allow local governments to install speed cameras wherever they deem them necessary, with penalties of up to $100 for violations.Bill patron Del.-elect Mike Jones, D-Richmond, said the legislation is intended to increase speed enforcement and reduce the number of traffic fatalities.“It gives localities the decision of whether they want to do it or not,” said Jones. “So it’s not a ‘shall’ — every locality will have it — but for the ones that are concerned with this, it would help them out.”State law currently allows local governments to install speed cameras in work and school zones as a way to drivers to go slower around children and construction workers.
